Danielle Donnally
Wanton Studio
San Francisco-born artist Danielle Donnally studied in the United Kingdom for seven years. She earned her Master of Art in Performance Design and Practice (Distinction) from the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins; her PG Diploma in Set and Lighting Design from Trinity College Dublin, The Lir Academy; and her BS (Hons) in Neuroscience at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. While at St. Andrews, Danielle and a friend established a theatre company called Wanton Theatre and produced plays in venues around the medieval town, including a small stage here or a friend’s apartment there. After graduating St. Andrews, Danielle realized her passion was in theatre, which led to her post-graduate studies. However, when she graduated in 2020 during the height of the covid pandemic, every theatre had been shuttered worldwide, and she could not renew her student visa in the UK. So, Danielle returned to Washington, DC, her home since elementary school. With all theatres closed, Danielle pivoted, began creating handmade, vividly colored polymer clay earrings (no two pairs are identical) as well as abstract watercolors and acrylic paintings, and established her new business Wanton Studio. Danielle and her two rescue cats, Ale and Calamity, currently live in DC.
